Could This Be The Future Of Flying Cars?
Kitty Hawk is synonymous with aviation as it was the name of the city where the Wright Brothers first flew; however, if Google co-founder and Alphabet CEO Larry Page’s backed company, Kitty Hawk, has a say in the matter it will also be forever tied to flying cars. Kitty Hawk recently released this footage of their all-electric aircraft being tested over a lake and while tested over a lake this specific model is also designed exclusively for overwater flight. The Kitty Hawk Flyer, as its known, is legal to operate in the United States in uncongested areas and falls under FAA regulations as an ultralight aircraft. This means that no specific license is required and according to Kitty Hawk, the flyer’s controls can be learned in just minutes.
While the Kitty Hawk Flyer still has a long way to go toward achieving flying car status as the public comes to expect, it could very well be just around the corner given the successes that Larry Page brings to Kitty Hawk.

Fun Police Don’t Want The Dodge Demon On The Streets, We Do
Automotive News wrote an editorial stating that, “Dodge is wrong to offer a purpose-built drag racer as a road-legal automobile.” While we value all opinions this one left us scratching our heads as to how/why they would single out the Demon. Take the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 (insert basically any supercar of your choosing) and let’s look at the numbers and the argument that it’s wrong to be offered as a consumer car.
The Demon is the fastest quarter-mile production car, but for comparisons sake take its 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds. The Aventador by comparison is 2.8 seconds and while that half a second is significant on the track it’s irrelevant in the reaction time for a driver on a city street where Automotive News says the Demon is unsafe to exist. The Aventador has a top-speed of 217mph and the Demon is rumored to be in the 200mph range which puts them both well over the fastest legal limit anywhere in the US yet one is sold without the boo-hooing of Automotive News.
The Dodge Demon presents insane numbers if reaching them on public roads, but at the end of the day so do countless other cars if anywhere, but on a track. So why take on the Demon? Ultimately, like any car, it will rely on the common sense and ability of the driver. To then take on the Demon this way seems like an affront to, soon to be, Dodge Demon owners. Painting them as perhaps more irresponsible because the Demon isn’t a foreign supercar or not a quarter-million-dollar car. The whole stance by Automotive News seems more grounded in a Dodge customer bias than by numbers or simply a desire for clicks and if the latter is the case, you’re welcome. Scum.

GMG And Fan Favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. Announces Retirement
At times overshadowed by the family name early in his career Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasted no time quickly climbing the ranks of NASCAR’s elite and securing himself as a fan favorite for most of his career. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end as Junior will officially hang up his racing suit at the end of the 2017 season. Sidelined for a good chunk of the 2016 season due to concussions, the news of his retirement isn’t entirely shocking, but a surprise to many who saw numerous great years still to come for the driver of the 88.

Earnhardt Jr. currently finds himself in 24th place as he seeks his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in his final season at 42 years old. In a career that has spanned just shy of two decades Junior has won two Daytona 500 titles, two XFINITY Series championships and has been voted Most Popular Driver 14-times. There is no word yet on who will replace Earnhardt Jr. in the 88 at Hendrix Motorsports next season.

Five New York Auto Show Debuts That Aren’t The Demon
The New York International Auto Show will open to the press tomorrow and Thursday. Those two days will bombard journalists with an onslaught of reveals and while the Dodge Demon has dominated the lead up (guilty!), these cars are not to be overlooked when they make their debuts.
Debuting earlier in the year in Geneva the Honda Civic Type R is a track tested car with a price point in the mid-30s.
When the Nissan GT-R Track Edition makes its U.S. debut it is nearly certain to do so to high praise. And while the price point is getting up their at $127,990 it will almost still be a value buy for the performance.
Arguably the world leader in luxury SUVs, Range Rover will debut their Velar for the first time in North America.
Mercedes-Benz has a North American debut of their own with the all-new E-Class Cabriolet.
It’s NOT A DEMON, but practically a sibling. The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will debut in all its 707hp glory.
