Ohio State Thanks TRC

Transportation Research Center, Inc., located in East Liberty, Ohio, is the largest independent proving ground and vehicle testing center.

The track was built in 1962 by The Ohio State University, and has become the largest proving ground in the nation. TRC facilities provide customers state-of-the-art facilities to meet all testing needs. These facilities include: a 50-acre vehicle dynamic area; 4,500 acres of road courses; and 7.5 miles of high-speed tracks. The track is open 24/7, providing customers with a secure facility to which they can take a vehicle to be tested and validated year-round.

The Ohio State EcoCAR team will be visiting TRC this week to participate in the Emissions Testing Event (ETE). According to Ohio State EcoCAR Engineering Manager, Brandon Bishop, “We are excited to have another opportunity to work with one of our sponsors and continue to improve our vehicle through dyno testing. Having a chance to collect high quality emissions data will be incredibly important to improve our vehicle moving forward.” He added, “The main goal of ETE for us is to study the effectiveness of the start-stop system that we have developed for competition this year. In addition, we are looking to collect emissions data over short drive cycles to improve our engine performance during startup.”

Steven Tyler Goes Back In Time With New Super Bowl Spot

Kia is sending rocker Steven Tyler back in time in their Super Bowl spot. Aging the rocker in reverse by running their 2018 Kia Stinger in reverse they take him back to a time when he could “feel something again.” It seems a bit odd to imply that Tyler is void of feeling at this point in his life, but nevertheless it’s a safe bet that being one of the biggest rockstars at the peak of your career was a feeling that didn’t suck. Either way. the Kia Stinger is a pretty solid car, but not sure this ad does it justice.

Russia Does What Russia Does, Builds Running Car Out Of Ice

I don’t speak Russian so not really sure at all what is going on here besides a running and driving G-Wagon looking contraption made out of ice. Oh, and I guess they worry the ice alone wouldn’t be flashy enough they made it light up different colors and I can’t help but think, “meanwhile in Russia.”

Rare GTO Judge Ram Air IV Brings Staggering Price At Auction

Before the likes of Tom Brady and Michael Jordan there was another GOAT, the Pontiac GTO Judge. The GTO Judge was quintessential muscle car manufactured from the mid-60s to mid-70s and helped to solidify the presence of muscle cars in America.

This 1970 GTO Judge Ram Air IV Convertible was one of just 24 ever made with the Ram Air IV engine and 4-speed manual transmission and for that reason makes it exceedingly rare today. Additionally, before one even notices the engine or transmission they are presented with the unique Pepper Green paint, a far cry from the orange Judges which dominate popular culture. And just like the rest of the car, the paint is correct to the original; in fact, the entire car underwent a frame-off restoration to completely restore it.

Stripped to bare metal, framed removed, drivetrain rebuilt, new pistons, new valves, refinished crank, the list goes on and on for the extensive restoration and for good measure the entire engine assembly was finished with Pontiac engine paint. Following the professional restoration the GTO went on to claim honors at the 2017 GTOAA National Convention and 2017 Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals, in Chicago. All the hard work, accolades and rarity of this classic GTO Judge would combine to bring $440,000 at auction.

The Ultimate Muscle Car Of 1970, This Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Heads To Auction

They say necessity is the mother of all invention; well, competition spurs some pretty radical results too. Take the horsepower wars of the early 1970s, Chevrolet would drop their cap on horsepower that year and Oldsmobile would respond and respond aggressively with the 1970 442.

That response was a 365hp, 500 lb.-ft. of torque 455ci V8 engine and pumped up to 370hp on the W-30 like this here. This engine is numbers matching and been completely rebuilt adding to the allure of the 1 of 262 W-30 Sport Coupes produced that year. Making this one even rarer today is the automatic transmission and air conditioning which was found paired together in just 120 442 W-30s in 1970. The transmission remains the original 400 automatic which was rebuilt by West Coast Trans in North Hills, California.

A star of 1970 being featured as the pace car in the Indianapolis 500 (not this specific car) the Oldsmobile 442 seeks new life at auction in California (this car). This nut and bolt restoration 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 will cross the block at Mecum Los Angeles in mid-February.
