Generally speaking, it is the first year of a car’s new generation that tends to be the most iconic and rightfully so as new generations represent major changes. However, the C1 Corvette is unique in that a single generation presented the world with two very memorable ‘Vettes, the 1953 and 1958. The ’53’s legacy will last forever as the debut Corvette, but the ’58 would perhaps go on to be even more significant to Corvette’s legacy with its dual headlamps.

Before the ’58 the prior five years of Corvettes featured a single headlamp, but were changed midway through the first-generation run to reflect a changing market place. The dual headlamps would exist for generations to come in various headlamp housings and go on to inspire the equally iconic dual taillight rear of future Corvettes. This particular 1958 C1 goes beyond the legacy of the lights and further features a fuel-injected motor which was an option in ’58 and produces 250hp V8 tied to a T-10 4-speed manual transmission with a 3.70 positraction rear end.
