Four Bumblebee Camaros Look To Create Buzz At Barrett-Jackson

If you’re allergic to bees you may not want to attend Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction this year because four bees will be swarming the stage… Bumblebees that is, from the hit Transformers franchise.

Chevrolet will be bringing the four Camaros to Arizona in order to raise money for Operation Homefront, “a national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families.” All for Bee variations will be sold together (after all they do follow the queen) and one-hundred percent of the hammer price will be donated to charity.

The first Bee up is theoriginal 2010 Chevrolet Camaro as made famous in the first Transformers film, Transformers. Next up is another 2010, but this one made famous in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Lot 3009.3 is the third Bee which is a 2013 Camaro seen in Transformers: Age of Extinction. The final and most aggressive looking Bee is a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro from Transformers: The Last Knight. Each of the four Camaros features a V8, automatic transmission and are rear-wheel drive, but let’s face it, if you’re buying the lot you’re not doing so to drive them.

If you’re looking to start a hive of your own there is no better way than this four part lot #3009 heading to auction the middle of this month.

Lego Goes Two-For-One With Corvette ZR1, Hot Rod Technic

Clearly Lego dances to the beat of their own drum with the release of their new Technic Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coming after the end of the 2018 holiday season, but treat yo self!

The newly released $49.99 set features 579 pieces, but has the ability to be built outright as the ZR1 or turned into a hot rod via a second set of instructions. Call us bias, but we prefer the hot rod despite the Vette being designed in a partnership with Chevy, we’re just not seeing the, “essence of the iconic supercar and comes with an authentic orange and black color scheme, black spoked rims with low-profile tires, large rear wing and 4 tailpipes.”

Both builds feature a working steering wheel and utilize the same V8 engine with working pistons and are relatively the same size at 3-inches tall and under a foot long. Going on sale yesterday it’s time to find out what kids, or adults, have truly been naughty or nice to warrant a bonus gift under the dying three.

BMW Restores One-Of-A-Kind 1600 GT Convertible

It should go without saying that we love seeing older cars restored to their former glory and no one is better at doing that than the car’s original manufacturers. Case and point, this BMW 1600 GT convertible prototype.

The finished product speaks for itself, but what you can’t see is the years of work that apprentices who are part of BMW’s vocational training team put in to restoring it. Under the watchful eye of their trainers the crew completed the work at the same Dingolfing plant that gave birth to the car in 1967.

In fact, the factory produced two examples that year, but when the pair set out for a test drive one would fall victim to an accident and was scrapped leaving this as the only 1600 GT convertible as the only surviving example. The car was then gifted by the manufacturer to their biggest shareholder, Herbert Quandt. Herbert’s family would then own the car for years before letting it enter the private market where it was said a fashion model once owned it, a business man and ultimately Munich-based Allianz Centre for Engineering. It was the latter which BWM Group Classic was able to strike a deal with the restore the car to its original glory.

Toyo Gets In The Christmas Spirit With 900HP Pro4 Truck

Toyo Tires, in a partnership with King Shocks and Monster Energy, has dropped their Christmas video starring Kyle LeDuc in “A LeDuc Christmas.”

In the “Gymkhana” style the internet has come to know and love the video follows five-time Lucas Oil Off-Road champion LeDuc from Christmas tree farm to home. The only catch is that the tree is strapped to the top of his 900-horsepower Pro4 truck and he lives so off the grid that this would be pornographic to Ted Kaczynski.

The action is, as you would imagine, awesome, but the real surprise is the acting at the end. Not sure if it’s his real wife or not, but there is definitely a believability to the exchange. Enjoy this fun little pre-holiday workday time waster below!

First Production 2020 Supra Will Head To Auction

Barrett-Jackson snagged another first. In what is becoming commonplace, the auction house secured another first off the line car to be auctioned for charity. This time the car in question is the 2020 Toyota Supra VIN 20201.

A new Japanese sports car won’t be the apple of everyone’s eye, then again what car is, when it crosses the block on Saturday, January 19th, but it should still bring big money. And the bigger the better as one-hundred percent of the hammer price will go toward benefiting the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The 2020 Supra, as a model, will make it’s debut just days prior at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14th. Once the Supra is unveiled at the show VIN 20201 will then be unveiled to the auction crowd, but is said it is to, “be factory-finished with a matte gray exterior, red mirror caps and matte black wheels. Inside, the Supra will be just as unique, with a red interior and carbon-fiber inserts noting its designation as the first global A90 Supra.” More details are sure to emerge following the NAIAS debut.

Diesel Brothers’ Build Heads To Barrett-Jackson

Fast N’ Loud’s Discovery brothers, The Diesel Brothers have a show build of their own crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction early next year.

The 1969 Chevrolet C10 was built on season three of the Discovery show for Charity Air Ambulance. This insane build features a roll cage with a removable floor, “so the entire cab can be lifted off.” Despite that added touch and its visually stunning demeanor the really noteworthy elements come by way of the trucks performance. The auction listing states it’s, “powered by a fully built LBZ Twin-Turbo Duramax diesel 6.6-liter race engine producing an estimated 800-1000hp and 1500 ft/lbs of torque that can hold 60-80 pounds of boost.”

Additionally, the performance elements tie into the trucks looks with a single turbo out of the hood custom painted to match the truck. Given this truck was a show worthy show build everything about it has been revamped making it one slick C10… Including the addition of a line lock so you know this thing is capable of some epic burnouts and you know how we love a good burnout around here.

The Scottsdale auction will take place January 12-20 with this Chevy going across the stage on Saturday, January 18th.

Mississippi Museum To Close, Send 175+ Cars To Auction

The Tupelo Automobile Museum is closing and after a quick Google search learned that Tupelo is a town in Northeast Mississippi of 38,114. It is also the birthplace of Elvis, home to The Elvis Presley Museum and until next spring the home to an extensive car collection house at the Tupelo Automobile Museum.

Opening in 2002 the museum’s history dates back to 1974 when founder Frank Spain bought his first antique car. After that he would spend nearly three decades curating the collection, along with Max Berryhill, which would eventually all come to be housed at the museum. Now, 45 years after his quest began, the collection will be entirely disbanded and sold at auction with all the proceeds going to charity.

One doesn’t have to be a mind reader to know what you’re thinking, what sort of cars could a town of under 40,000 in Northeast Mississippi have? The answer, amazing one. From cars once gifted to friends by Elvis to a 1948 Tucker, of which only about 50 were ever made and regularly fetch over a million at auction. From 1886 with a Benz to 1994 with a Dodge Viper the museum houses over 175 vehicles representing each decade in between, displayed in chronological order. A full list can be seen here.

The cars will find their new forever homes in late April, 25-27, with Bonhams Auctioneers taking point.
