When we say powerful we’re not doing so as just another adjective to get you to click this story, but this ’68 Dodge Charger R/T is truly a beast.
Rolling off the Hamtramck, MI assembly line on December 20, 1967 this Dodge R/T originally featured a 440 magnum, but has since been replaced for even more power by a 426ci HEMI engine. An engine upgrade that would certainly give the Bullitt Mustang a run for its money. That’s right, for those who felt this car seemed familiar it is, without a doubt, an homage to the “bad guys” in the Steve McQueen film Bullitt.
In addition to its engine upgrade, the Dodge features a: 4-speed manual transmission with pistol grip, Tic-Toc-Tach, 3-speed wiper motor and Strange axles with 3:73 gears. All the while keeping the menacing black on black look with a black vinyl interior to match the black exterior set off by period correct wheels.
This infamous make and model will cross the block in just under two weeks at Mecum Auctions’ Las Vegas auction.
