The Humvee is as American as apple pie with a slice of American cheese on top. A symbol of American military might, the Humvee gained popularity during the Gulf War and was released in a civilian version in 1994, just three years after the war ended. Sadly, the civilian Hummer would not survive rising oil prices and a sale to General Motors and seize to exist in 2010.
However, the Humvee is back for 2017 thanks to Qingdao Free Trade Import and Export Co., Ltd. of Qingdao which due to an earlier investment in Michigan based Humvee Export will bring the Humvee to China in what is being called a C-Series. Keeping true to it’s military heritage the C-Series will be offered in three packages: Bravo, Charlie and Delta. With three 6.5L diesel options being offered ranging in horsepower from 190 to 250 and one 6.2L V8 gas engine being offered with 430hp. Sadly, the catch is, there is no indication the American made staple of an American icon will not be making its return stateside anytime soon.
