NASA is known for building things that are out of this world (please, forgive me) and on a terrestrial level Parker Brothers Concepts has been building wild cars for years; so, teaming up on a Mars rover concept was a match made in Heaven. Parker Brothers got their start building choppers and hot rods and through a never-ending quest to push the enevelope they made a name for themselves nationwide with a working replica of the light cycle from Tron. From there the brothers were off and running building working replicas, from Batman’s Tumbler to the Shredder from Battleship and even their own show, Dream Machines.
It’s easy to see the influences of the Tumbler in NASA’s rover concept, but, as expected, much of the input came in the form of NASA-engineer’s science and specs. While rivaling an M1 Abrams tank in the looks department the rover has the ability to act as a scout vehicle for four or small research lap. At three-tons and 11-feet tall the rover is a monster, but one still capable of reaching 70mph, though it would most likely operate in the 10-15mph range through hills and craters. NASA plans to tour its Mars rover through select cities this summer raising awareness for the red planet as the next frontier in space exploration.
