Life imitated art when the Lamborghini Miura was released and the car named for a famous fighting bull breeder raged like a bull out of the shoot to success. Greatly in need of a hit car to rival Ferrari, Lamborghini bet heavily on the Miura and its mid-engine design and not only succeeded, but laid the groundwork for mid-engine cars of the future.
Accompanying the now iconic styling of the Miura, designed in the Bertone styling house, was a hefty $20,000 price tag. Naturally, the steep price limited those able to actually afford the car, but also limiting was the extremely low production volume of just 474 P400 Miuras throughout the entire 1966-1968 production run. This particular Miura would initially be sold to an owner in Paris, France where it would be sold a second time before finding its way to a collector in Japan. It was in Japan that the Lambo would undergo a ground up restoration.
The concours level restoration brought the car back to its 1968 glory with its original Giallo Fly yellow paint, full rewire of electronics and engine out rebuild. Thus returning the engine to its 3.9-liter V12 dominance with a top-speed of 170mph. Arguably one of the most beautiful cars of all-time this Miura is being offered at auction in Australia where it is expected to sell for nearly $2 million USD.
