A big weekend for motorsports in the United States saw NASCAR wrap up its 2018 season (and a Joey Logano victory as predicted here), but it’s Formula 3 driver Sophia Floersch grabbing headlines around the world following a terrifying crash.
The 17-year-old German racer was competing in Macau when her F3 car got airborne shooting her through the catch fence and off course. It is also being reported that their were some injuries to media and other personnel in the area where her car landed, but thankfully no fatalities, including Sophia who is undergoing spinal surgery today. The event occurred on just the fourth lap and prompted an hour long red flag while safety personnel tended to the injured and worked to repair the track fence.
