Two Early 1900s Motorcycles Sell For $88,000 Each

Having just wrapped their annual Las Vegas, NV motorcycle auction Mecum Auctions saw some bikes hammer at some impressive prices. In fact, the top 10 sold brought $710,600 total, but the highest two were a 1929 Cleveland Tornado Four Cylinder and 1913 Harley-Davidson 9A 5-35 Single each going for $88,000.

The ’29 Cleveland Tornado is a rare streamline “long tank” version of which only two were to have been known to exist. It features a 60CI engine with a three speed transmission. The Harley-Davidson pre-dates the Cleveland having been built in 1913 making it 105 years old yet still with its original gray paint. The 34.5CI engine has been rebuilt and features its original leather belt drive.
