Harley-Davidson Continues Electric Push With Two New Concepts

The Consumer Electronic Show is off and running in Las Vegas and with electronic right there in the name Harley-Davidson felt it as good a time as any to debut two new electric concepts and reveal pricing for the LiveWire.

While it is certainly the concepts that are eye catching, and perhaps not for the right reason, Harley spent the bulk of their press release focusing on the LiveWire’s price and ordering options. A sensical angle as the struggling brand is looking to the electric future and that bike to help right their ship; however, with an MSRP of $29,799 this could prove challenging. While features like no clutch, no shifting and 100% instant torque resulting in 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds could intrigue a new generation of Harley riders it seems unlikely at that price point they’d be willing to buy.

As for the two new concepts Harley had simply this to say, “both concepts bring Harley-Davidson’s expertise in expressive two-wheeled experiences and push boundaries in design and technology.” It’s clear the concepts are more inline with original motorcycles which were more or less motorized bicycles, but just as the motorcycle evolved into what people love today it will need to evolve back if Harley has any chance at designs of this nature succeeding.
