A Sign Of The Times, Confederate Motors To Rename, Go Electric

Sounding as though it may have a century long history like the likes of Harley-Davidson, Confederate Motors is a relatively young company. Founded in 1991 the Birmingham, AL based bike builder quickly made a name for themselves building high-end bikes for anyone fortunate enough to drop six-figures, as well as for film. In fact, just this year a Confederate P51 Combat Fighter appeared in Transformers: The Last Knight.

However, according to the Los Angeles Times the 16 year old bike builder will soon change its Confederate name to Curtiss Motorcycles and begin producing electric bikes. And while it would be easy to feel as though they’re selling out the reason as President Matt Chambers puts it to the Times is quite respectable, “We can’t go any further than this. We’ve hit the ceiling. This is it.” And with the recognition of their limits and a partnership with Zero Motorcycles, Confederate Motors will seize to exist. So if you’re looking to put a Confederate in your garage before it’s too late consider this FA-13 Combat Bomber limited to 13 for $155,000.
