Behind The Scenes | Mega Race Challenge Car Build Part 1

Daily Monkey | 1963 Ford Falcon

The North American version of the Ford Falcon had an impressive run, not in the sense of longevity, but the exact opposite. It spanned a single decade from 1960-1970 yet in that time it went through three and a half generations and made a lasting impact on automotive culture. Additionally, the Falcon’s television ad campaign would welcome Charles Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip characters from the page to the television for the first time.

The first-generation Falcon was produced from inception in 1960 to 1963. This first Falcon was designed and built in response to the changing automotive market which began seeing more and more households being able to afford a second car and in particular a car for the woman of the house. With the new consumer base desiring a car that was smaller and easier to drive the Falcon was introduced with a small, lightweight 95hp motor. By 1963 the options had grown significantly in everything from body type (four-doors, wagons and convertibles) to engines. And in 1963 a half year model was introduced which offered for the first and only time a 164hp V8 motor.

GMG Takes You Trackside At The Daytona 500

The 59th running of the Daytona 500 kicked off the 2017 NASCAR season from Daytona Beach, Florida Sunday and in typical restrictor plate fashion it was an exciting one. In the closing lap it was a pack of 10, most of which looking to win their first 500, that were able to breakaway from the wreck riddled field with Kurt Busch ultimately taking the checkered on his first Daytona 500 win. However, before the race even began and the FOX cameras rolling for the viewers at home, GMG was trackside in the heart of all the action.

In fact, one of the showstoppers is a Ferrari 250 GTO valued at over 55 million USD. If you have the opportunity this is definitely one show worth checking out.

Daily Monkey | 1970 Chevrolet C/10

If you gave a child a crayon and a blank sheet of paper and had them draw a truck you’d get something resembling a second-generation Chevrolet C/10. No, your kid isn’t a Chevy savant and no, it’s not because it isn’t well designed, in fact, quite the opposite. The C/10’s simplistic style with smooth “fleetside” or fendered “stepside” bed options give it a quintessential look which has survived way beyond the generations that made it popular.

However, this 1970 second-generation C/10 has flourished in the decades since it hit the roads and undergone some more modern upgrades along the way. In 1970 the C/10 got an engine upgrade having its 396 V8 replaced by the 400 V8 (402 ci). However, this ’70 has gone one further opting for a 1978 454. And with new or rebuilt parts abound on this classic pickup it provides a perfect daily driver or jumping off point for a build celebrating the C/10 and embracing its resurgence in recent years.

Ford Takes Aim At European Supercars w/ GT Competition Series

The Ford GT Competition Series took home the Rolex 24 trophy at Daytona in January and now returns to the scene of the win to be publicly showcased. Designed with a track first mentality the GT Competition Series is an ultra-lightweight performance car featuring numerous weight saving innovations: Perspex acrylic engine cover, carbon fiber and Gorilla Glass. All the weight savings combined with the cars lowered center of gravity and 645hp engine make it fierce competition on the track, as seen at the Rolex 24. The car will be featured outside turn one at Daytona this weekend – a must see in person before it retreats back to your dreams.
