Hennessey Tuned Demon Runs 1.93-Second 0-60

Amazing, yes. Shocking, nah. A tuner with a fetish for straight-line speed and the fastest production straight-line car ever made together and this was bound to happen.

In its first quarter-mile test the Hennessey Demon hit a blistering 1.93-second 0-60 on its way to a 9.38-second ¼ mile run at 146mph.

‘Herbie’ Sets Record As Most Expensive ’63 Beetle Ever At Auction

A true Herbie this 1963 Volkswagen Beetle last graced the big screen in Herbie Goes Bananas, but that was just the beginning for this Beetle. Sold by title holder “Walt Disney Productions” in 1980 the car found a second life as a vintage-racer having been restored to Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo looks by Arthur Porter, who would also serve as driver.

Following its racing career it went the way of most collectible cars, to a museum and later a Herbie collector, Doug Kaufmann. Kaufmann would restore the car again back to Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, which is what you see today. In that film this Herbie was the “oil squirting” car and uniquely used for both driving and interior shots making both the outside and inside of impeccable quality. It crossed the block at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach where it was offered with no reserve and sold for $128,700 breaking the 2015 record fro most expensive.

With 4 doors, the Lamborghini Urus is still a force to be reckoned with

A 4 door is not exactly what you picture when you hear the name “Lamborghini”. While the Urus has made big news as of lately, this is not the first crack at a SUV that the legendary sports car manufacturer has taken.

In 1986, the Italian brand took on a completely new project, the LM002 or also dubbed the “Rambo-Lambo”. The brand initially created the niche of a “super sport utility vehicle” and found themselves a perfect spot for the Rambo Lambo, the Military. Until the military finally decided that they did not need a super sport vehicle on the battlefield, the idea has been somewhat lost for the brand….until now.

But with buying a Lamborghini, no matter how many doors it has, you expect to have that certain “Lamborghini feel”. Under the hood is a twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine, pushing out 641hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Even though the Urus seems to be on the heavier end, it still commands a great 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. While it might not look like your normal Lambo, it still has racing in it’s DNA. Being called the best in its class, this super sport utility vehicle is a track animal.

The Urus is completed with six drive modes just for the road and track, an additional 3 drive modes for off-road, active roll bars, a torque vectoring rear differential, and carbon breaks with 10 piston calipers. Inside it still has the feel of Lamborghini if you ignore it having a back seat. The interior still has the look and feel you expect for a world class car with all the buttons and switches your heart could desire. Combined with the most amount of options on a Lamborghini ever, you really can make this car your own.

Ultimately, we all want to see what this car can do on the track and dirt and Autocar does a great job of showing what this news breaking car can really put down.

Ford Quietly Does Away With All Car Models But Two

Trucks, SUVs and crossovers have been the name of the game for sometime now, especially for a name like Ford in that realm. Nevertheless, still a bit surprising, and sad, to hear that they will be looking at 90% of their production being “trucks, utilities and commercial vehicles” by 2020.

I’ll save you the trouble of racking your brain as to what are all the cars that are going away, by telling you the two, yes two, cars that will remain in the company’s portfolio, the Mustang and all-new Focus Active. Ford coyly brook the news within a 17 page mountain of graphics and text in their first-quarter report, not an indication of anything really…Other than not wanting it to get spun into a tale of nostalgia lost as the Ford cars many of us grew up with will be destined for a car graveyard near you.

‘Fast & Furious’ Gears Up For Netflix Animated Series

Having successfully crossed the finish line with their first original automotive series, Fastest Car, Netflix is poised to send another car series our way, Fast & Furious. The animated series will be the first in a partnership between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television. The animated series will also see Vin Diesel as Executive Producer, but unfortunately no word yet on returning Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) via animation.

About the Fast & Furious animated series:

Teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. Drifts Nurburgring In Stock Ford Raptor

Champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. took to the Green Hell that is the Nurburgring in Germany with the intention of drifting his Mustang RTR Spec 5-D, but weather would have other plans. Making the best of a wet situation he would instead drift the world’s most infamous track in a borrowed Ford Raptor and the rest, well, is just details.

It’s also worth noting that Ford Performance recently said that Vaughn will return to the Ring this summer to seek revenge in his drift Mustang RTR Spec 5-D.

Amazon Key Allows For Packages To Be Delivered Directly To Your Car

We, as a people, try and maintain the ways of doing things we know and love, like putting gas in a car and not plugging it into a wall outlet, but technology is moving quick and every now and then it catches us truly by surprise. Case and point, Amazon’s new service with General Motors that delivers packages to your car.

Amazon Prime members, in 37 cities, that have an active OnStar account will be eligible and while that sounds like a niche group it’s seven million and counting as Amazon Key adds new cities. Seems cool at first, but the more you think about it the more you feel your face becoming the Jacki Chan WTF meme. The service works with same day, two-day and standard shipping meaning that you will need to know where you car will be in the future and coupling that with the fact the car needs to be in a public place means you’re limited to pretty much home or work. If home, just have them deliver to the door! If at work, well, you’ll know it’s secure verse your front patio, but at the cost of having to halfway be you’re own delivery man? Besides, who has actually had something stolen to the scale of getting genuinely amped for this service.

Sure the service may evolve into something that makes perfect sense, but for time being it poses more the question of, just because you can, should you?

Galaxie Quest: Richard’s Crazy Timeline Vs. Monkeys’ Pursuit Of Excellence

Instead of getting hung up on one Galaxie analogy to allude to throughout, let’s get possible references out of the way early: Guardians of the “Galaxie,” in a Galaxie far far away, the Galaxie is on Orion’s belt…That should suffice for now, but if you have any good ones leave them in the comments.

The 1962 Ford Galaxie episodes contained a near Galaxy’s worth of happenings and something for every one. Drama as the Monkey’s struggled to finish the build in defiance of Richard, intrigue as to the “barn find” Q-Code in Indiana, comedy as the guys attempted to be athletes and murder…well, not quite, but the return of Sue wielding a machete is probably as close as we will see on Fast N’ Loud.

Needless to say the Galaxie build presented its share of struggles, that stripe being the most glaring looking back, but thankfully that was dealt with and the car ultimately turned out gorgeous and continue the trend of new colors on builds as of late.

Additionally, the fire truck’s and police car’s back stories were revealed after so many became familiar with them on the livecam and social media and they found new deserving homes. The ’73 Dodge Polara replica from the film “The Sugarland Express” selling for $13,500 to a family looking to honor their late sun and the firetruck selling for $20,000 which Richard and Dennis offer to match.

As for the Galaxie, it, for the time being, remains at Gas Monkey Garage defended by the men in black, er, rather the monkeys in black.
