It looks like Mike Brady’s mid-life crisis Mustang which makes it as interesting looking as it is rare. For starters, only 404 GT350 convertibles were made in 1968 which alone makes the car worth noting, but it’s the options that contributed to both the car’s unique looks and rarity.
Immediately the color jumps out as not one normally associated with one of the most iconic American sports cars in history and for good reason, of those 404 that year only 15 were finished with these paint and trim codes. Obviously, not a popular color option. Furthermore, it is 1 of just 2 as equipped. And if you’re wondering if that interior was part of the original order? The answer is, yeah, baby, yeah! The GT350 features the original carpet and interior, body panels and floor and is described as being in “highly original condition.”
This very unique 302CI Mustang with a four-speed transmission will head to auction at Mecum Kansas City in mid-March.
