According to the posting the bike includes a certificate of authenticity so believing that and the details surrounding the bike, here’s the scoop. Two of these bikes exist, one donated to Planet Hollywood (which is apparently still around?) and the other given by the Farrelly brothers, the duo behind Dumb and Dumber, to the film’s transportation coordinator, Gordie Merrick.
The current owner got the bike from Merrick and has maintained it as close to authentic as possible. This specific bike was used predominantly for closeup shots and is not registered or street legal, nor was it ridden by current owner, but is running. No word was given on whether or not he gets, “70 miles to the gallon on [the] hog.”
