It’s a strange time we live in when Porsche sales are majority SUVs from just two models and one such model, the Macan, sounds like a bird you’d tip a man a few buck on Venice Beach to take a picture with. Though, these are the times and today Porsche has debuted their newest Macan on their continued push toward SUVs.
As an SUV made essentially for city driving, in fact the car is exceptionally popular in China with over a third of lifetime sales coming there, the styling has appeared to take precedent over performance with the recent update. Taking cues from the 911 the Macan features similar LED lights, a steering wheel option from the GT and styling to match its iconic brethren.
Built for cruising, more so than trail or track, the Macan features an 11-inch screen, an element Porsche purists are most likely steaming from the ears over. Additionally, the interior sees a redesign to the AC vent placement and a new Traffic Jam Assist technology. The new Macan is certainly an upgrade even if the focus was primarily comfort and cosmetic, but, after all, that’s primarily what people are buying it for.
