Benjamin Franklin once said that the only certainties in life are death and taxes, but clearly that was before the Land Rover Defender because had he taken one look at it the quote would read “death, taxes and the Defender is a kickass looking car.”
This one-off Land Rover Defender was built by Land Rover Classics for the London department store Selfridges. In fact, it was not just built for them, but currently resides in a store that required the Defender entering as just a rolling chassis and entirely assembled by the Land Rover Classics team in just four days.
The bespoke Defender was based off the 405PS Defender Works V8 – 70th Edition and customized from there. It features Bronze Green paint with the hood in Selfridges Yellow, retro seats and Selfridges badging. In all it took 900 hours to complete the build which began five months ago utilizing a 2016 Defender 110 2.2 TDCi Pick Up as its base. If you find yourself in London this holiday season be sure to check it out at the new Designer Street Room at Selfridges’ Oxford Street store.
