Now doesn’t usually associate elephants with speed unless it’s cartoon one bolting away from a mouse, but in this case elephant is a nod to Mopar’s 426 HEMI Engine nicknamed “elephant.” However, the “Hellephant” takes size and power to the extreme thanks to the hell moniker and extreme engineering.
The “Hellephant” is a 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate HEMI Engine and Kit capable of producing 1,000hp and 950 lb.-ft. of torque, assuming the car you drop it can handle that power. In Mopar’s case they opted to debut the powerful new crate motor alongside their 1968 Dodge “Super Charger” Concept which, like the engine, combines new and old elements to create something kickass. Truthfully, the only thing not to like about this engine and concept debut is that Mopar opted to continue to call it a “crate” as opposed to a “Hellephant trunk.”
Available in the first quarter of 2019 you have some time to start planning what you do with you “Hellephant,” but undoubtedly whatever it is, it’s gonna be big.
