Car companies tend to be bigger teases than my high school girlfriend, let us never forget the months of Demon teasers! However, now taking to the main stage to wet your whistle is Ford, which is teasing a variety of models to makeup the “freshest lineup by 2020.”
Ford breaks it down for us by category so let’s do the same:
Trucks
You know the F-150 is going to get more options as the brand continues to pull at the teats of that cash cow, but what specifically?
2018: New 3.0-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine for F-150, updated version of the popular F-150 Raptor
2019: Ranger returns to midsize truck segment; new F-Series Super Duty debuts
2020: New F-150 debuts with new hybrid powertrain featuring a mobile generator
SUVs
Ford is predicting that by 2020 SUVs could make up half the U.S. retail sales so needless to say they’re wanting to go hard in that market. Most notably they will be attempting to gain market share with the new Bronco, but at this point it seems as much of a gamble as a sure thing.
Hybrids
The news here is that the classics you know and love will be getting a hybrid option in the coming years: F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Escape and Bronco. At this point it seems futile to resist your hybrid/electric overlords.
Battery Electrics and Commercial Vehicles
These are all less exciting and if you’re super into that kinda thing then you’re probably super into press releases which you can find Ford’s here and read all about them.
