Waymo Releases Reaction Video To Fully Self-Driving Cars

I struggle with the concept of the self-driving car since, for one, I like driving and if I’m a passenger then am I not already in a sense in a self-driving car? I know the latter is a simplification, hell, both points are a simplification, in that the real value to self-driving cars is that they will be significantly safer saving lives year over year, but just looks out there.

Waymo released a video this week showing their “early riders” going for a ride in their fully self-driving cars and their reactions. A range of reactions that stem from boredom to wonderment which is exactly what one should feel in a technological achievement working flawlessly. And to get a better feel for just how amazing the tech really is they have released a second video breaking down just how the car works and wow.

I’m still not sold personally as the vibe is more of just a tram from A to B than that of a car as we’ve known them through the years, but then again, I do really like being able to browse Instagram and text while on the go.
