It’s expensive, arguably unnecessary, but certainly badass. Debuted at the Geneva Motor Show the run of 98 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet promptly sold out. However, the manufacturer held one back, number 99, and this is that one headed to public auction for the first time.
Carrying a list price of $750,601 plus VAT this G650 is expected to significantly exceed that at auction, a good thing with the proceeds benefiting the Laureus Sport for Good. A charity which was founded in 2000 and has, “100 programs in 40 countries, all of which are fighting to address issues surrounding health, education, gender equality, inclusivity and conflict resolution.”
Packing a Mercedes AMG V12 biturbo engine this monstrous 4×4 puts out 639hp and 738lb.-ft. of torque. And while the power is derived from the Mercedes moniker, the luxurious interior screams Maybach. The rear buckets lie flat and feature a heated massage function. Screens adorn the backside of the front head rest and a partition can separate the back occupants from the front if things get romantic under the stars having dropped the top with the push of a button.
