Slate Of Rare Yenko Chevrolets At Mecum Indy

In the late 1960s a local Canonsburg, Pennsylvania Chevrolet dealership was selling not just Chevy muscle cars, but modified versions which would become some of the most sought after in the world. Yenko Chevrolet would begin in Bentleyville, PA in 1934 by Frank Yenko and grow to a second location, Canonsburg, just before the mid-century mark. Some eight years later Frank’s son, Don, would take over and run the dealership until 1982 when he would sell it. It was during the years with Don at the helm that he put his racing expertise to work modifying the Chevy muscle cars that Yenko Chevrolet was selling. These Yenko Chevys grew in popularity hitting their stride in the late 1960s, but remain popular to collectors to this day.
