Super Rare ’93 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 At Auction

It is said that, “patience is a virtue.” Though many may disagree upon hearing the owner of this 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 took delivery and then parked it. That’s right for nearly 25 years this Porsche would sit idle with just over 6 miles on the odometer and the factory Cosmoline coating still covering the body. However, all that could change this weekend at the Villa Erba auction in Italy.

The auction, held every two years, takes place on the shores of Lake Como just an hour north of Milan. A picturesque setting for an auction which began in 2011 it has become known for bringing out blue-chip vehicles from around the world and this Porsche is no exception. The racing version of the Carrera RS this RSR is one of just 51 ever built and enters the auction as though it were just built. It features a 3.8-litre type M64/04 RSR-specific engine producing upwards of 375hp and giving it a 0-60 time, according to Car and Driver, of 3.7-seconds making it faster than the F40 Ferrari. This is a truly exceptional find that unfortunately for most comes with a price tag that will reflect that with an estimation from $2,250,000 – $3,375,000.
