Remember that junker Ford you and your buddies hammered together in your high school, well, this isn’t that. In fact, you could venture a guess that a car like this hasn’t ever been a part of a high school class before. However, it pays to live in the auto capital of the world where 50 high school students joined together with Ford to build a 1965 Daytona.
The technical education students came together as part of a joint venture between Ford, the Detroit Public Schools Community District and Experience Aviation. Over the course of 18 weeks the 50 students would put together nearly a 1000 parts in order to finish the ’65 Ford. The car, which was designed by Factory Five Racing Inc., features a Ford 306 engine that delivers 350hp, a TK5 transmission and a new independent rear suspension.
