Goodwood’s Annual Celebration Of Speed Begins Today

You probably couldn’t get more British than the Goodwood Festival of Speed if you were wearing an ascot sipping tea with the Queen being chauffeured in a Rolls-Royce by a Corgi. Held since 1993 on land reserved for livestock throughout the remainder of the year, the Goodwood Festival brings automotive enthusiasts from around the world for a celebration of speed at Lord March’s Goodwood Estate.

The four-day event hosts one of the most diverse shows in the world with everything from classic cars to modern F1 cars and everything in between, including aerial displays. There are numerous attractions which draw spectators throughout the Festival of Speed, but none more so than the hill climb. A nod to racing past the hill climb invokes images of Le Mans with simple straw bales separating supercar from spectator.

Unless you have Lord March money it is most likely too late to make this year’s Festival of Speed, but certainly worth planning for in the future if you’re a racing enthusiasts. Until then you can follow all the Goodwood action online.
