File this under, “duh,” Gas Monkey Garage likes a bar called Truck Yard. The humor isn’t lost on us, but Truck Yard presents an experience unlike any other in Dallas. Located in the resurging lower Greenville area which was once a booming north south throughway, Truck Yard offers an outdoor alternative with great drinks and ever changing food options.
It truly is one of those places where if you asked three different people why they came to Truck Yard you would get three different equally as valid answers. For starters, it offers up a Texas twist on a classic beer hall with a hodgepodge collection of tables and chairs, but the true outside draw is the treehouse bar. Exactly whist it sounds like the idea is rooted in nostalgia for owner, Jason, who had fond memories of treehouses from his childhood.
Secondly, it is a bar and the drinks on hand make that very clear. A rare treat at Truck Yard is the assortment of pre-made, yet wonderful, drinks; a plus when serving the crowds an outdoor bar can draw. From a variety of frozen drinks on hand to draft and bottled cocktails, Truck Yard has perfected the balance of quality and convenience which can all too often be a struggle. Additionally, they feature a wide variety of craft and local beers to truly get a taste of Dallas.

You’ll undoubtedly find yourself there hours on a beautiful day drinking and need food. Thankfully, that’s the other thing the aptly name Truck Yard does best, food trucks. On average, there are three different food trucks there that swap out seven days a week providing a wide range of delectable eats. And if you don’t see your favorite truck on the calendar you can still indulge in the permanent cheesesteak stand inside.
Truck Yard hits the trifecta when it comes to atmosphere, drink and food which makes it a must visit if on lower Greenville or anywhere in Dallas for that matter.
