Show Stopping Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback Being Auctioned

The Mach 1 performance package was originally available on Ford Mustangs beginning with the 1969 model year. By 1971 Ford was onto the second variation of the Mach 1 Mustang and this particular ’71, crossing the block at Mecum Portland, is the ultimate Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback.

In addition to carrying the Mach 1 moniker, this Ford is 1 of 531 429 CI Super Cobra Jet engine equipped Mach 1s produces. Making it even more rare is the fact that as equipped with the Ram Air option and iconic Grabber blue paint, to name a couple options, making it 1 of 9 Mustangs produced as equipped. Restored by Mustang Club of America (MCA) judge Bob Wilson this Ford is the end result of a rotisserie restoration which earned it the MCA Concours Trailer Gold in 2014. While the car may have never truly reached Mach 1 (around 750mph) it did reach the pinnacle of Mustang legend and is a valuable collector car.
