Beginning in August, CarsDirect is reporting, the Chevrolet Corvette production plant in Bowling Green, KY will suspend operations. The shutdown is expected to be for only three months while the factory undergoes upgrades, but is still certainly long enough to cause some major disruptions to future ‘Vette owners who may now not see their cars till December.
According to Ron Klino, spokesperson for Chevrolet, the shutdown is primarily to make upgrades to the factory’s paint facility. However, many wishful thinkers or, perhaps, conspiracy theorists are talking about the shutdown occurring to upgrade the factory to handle production on a rumored mid-engine ‘Vette. No matter what the case the shutdown is wreaking havoc on the production calendar for the 2018s, including the Carbon 65.
