“I like what I like.” Elegant in its simplicity, this became the driving force behinds Bruce Church’s extensive car collection. And as one looks over the collection and see a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster next to a 1989 Chevrolet 1500 pickup it is quickly evident that truer words were never spoken.
And while liking the cars was always first and foremost Church also developed a passion for rare cars, like his 1934 Roadster Pickup, one of just three known to exist. Additionally, Church developed some other criteria along the way, “fiberglass was a cardinal sin, correctness in drivetrains was key… an abundance of correct accessories and adornments was optimal.” It is clear that his, “I like what I like” mentality and slight buying principles equal results. Church’s pre-war collection is astounding and heads to auction next week at Mecum Dallas.
