Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Competes For First Time

Since the invention of cars we’ve had racing and with racing has come automotive innovation. For example, the rearview mirror born out of necessity at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Today, Chevrolet’s Colorado ZR2 competes in “the longest off-road race in the United States,” Desert’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno” race presented by FOX. Not only is this a race in the traditional sense, but it will act as a test-bed for Chevrolet Performance.

The ZR2 is a production model, albeit with some modifications such as: a roll cage, a 44-gallon racing fuel tank and racing seats with safety harnesses. However, it does remain stock with the ZR2’s 3.6L V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
