Budweiser Partners With Lyft To Offer Rides In Vintage Cars

As much as cars and alcohol don’t mix the two were closely linked during the over a decade of prohibition in the United States. When a constitutional ban on alcohol was passed in 1920 it led to a rise in moonshiners who would produce illegal alcohol to then be run throughout the country by bootleggers. These drivers not only had to be the best, but drive the best cars to stay ahead of the police and it was this combination of talented drivers and high-performing cars which would eventually help spawn NASCAR.

It was 1933 when the federal government would repeal the 18th amendment (making alcohol illegal) with the 21st amendment. Celebrating that historic moment for alcohol drinkers Budweiser has launched 1933 Repeal Reserve, a beer based on an Anheuser-Busch recipe which was halted by prohibition. To commemorate its launch Budweiser has teamed with Lyft to provide rides in New York City in vintage prohibition era cars. The 15 minute rides will take place in select NYC neighborhoods and can be hailed by selecting Bud Vintage mode between 3 PM and 7 PM Eastern on Wednesday, October 25.
