This Single-Owner 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III Is An Australian Classic

How Australia came to treasure American manufacturer’s muscle cars is a story for another time, but thankfully the land down under did, because it brought to life cars like this 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III.

In 1971 Ford Australia produced just 300 of the GTHO Phase IIIs variants and it’s believed that only half of those remain today in varying states. This is an example of a single-owner ’71 which hasn’t been driven since 1982 and has 66,626 miles. Powered by a 351-cid V8 the classic puts out 380hp which helped power GTHO Phase IIIs to 5 of the top 6 spots in the 1971 Bathurst 1000, a 620-mile touring car race.

This fine example of the around 150 in existence is made even rarer as one of just 13 that were produced in Nugget Gold. Meaning that all said and done this ultra-rare 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III is looking to bring in nearly $400,000 at auction this weekend.
