Dubbed the GT-R /C (as in remote control) this one-of-a-kind Nissan was built to celebrate the upcoming release of Grand Turismo Sport. Celebrating their 20th year with the game Nissan outfitted a GT-R to be controlled by a PlayStation DualShock4 controller operated by NISMO driver and GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough.
Through the driver and controller tandem a signal is sent to six computers which in turn operate four robots: steering, transmission, brake and throttle. In order to keep tabs on the car while on Silverstone’s National Circuit Jann took to a chase helicopter to navigate the car around the track via line of site as well as an LCD screen which would aid him in judging the car’s speed. At the end of the day he was able to achieve a top-speed of 131mph with an average of 76mph.
