In 1963 Chevrolet introduced its famous split-window Corvette Sting Ray and by 1964 the design was soundly in Chevy’s (obstructed) rearview mirror. Many owners of the ’63 would also follow in Chevy’s footsteps and replace their split-windows with one piece of glass; however, this custom ’64 Sting Ray went the other way and was converted into one kickass split-window.
The owner put the ’64 through a frame-off restoration which ultimately led to the split-window rear. Though in sticking with the mid-sixties, and decade prior, Fuelie tradition a V8 engine was added, but in the form of a 427ci stroker big-block verse the small block which would have been the prominent engine of the ’63 and ’64 Sting Rays. Additional upgrades to this ’64 make it less tradition and more a Pro Touring style, such as: custom suspension components, 4-wheel 13-inch Wilwood brakes and custom wheels with low-profile red line tires.
Other changes bring the ’64 Sting Ray further into the 21st century include air conditioning, power windows, Bluetooth audio and Kicker amps, speakers and subwoofer. This classic, turned more classic, turned a touch modern is a one-off beauty and will be made available with no reserve at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas in under two weeks.
