It usually takes a car decades to garner a history worthy of being told. However, this 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake has already been linked to some of the most influential names in the automotive industry.
Former Ford CEO Mark Fields, having an in at Ford, was the first owner of the car, which as a result of his status carries with it the 007 VIN number, making it one of the first GT500s made since the 1970s. Additionally, wielding the power that comes with being CEO of Ford, Mark’s GT500 was used by Shelby for the R&D that would go into the 40th anniversary package. All under the supervision of the legend Carroll Shelby, who would also personally authorize the use of white stripes.
Having received the full Shelby treatment, the now 650+ horesepower 40th Anniversary Super Snake GT500 would be sold to Barrett-Jackson President Steve Davis. Entering his collection in 2008 the car would drop out of public and rack up a total of less than 900 miles.
The storied history and extremely low mileage make this a valuable Mustang for any collector, but in a move that transcends car collecting Davis is offering the car at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas with no reserve, waiving all fees and donating the entire hammer price to Las Vegas first responders. It is currently slated to cross the block in Las Vegas around 1:30pm on Saturday, October 21.
